Planning a longer trip for your time in California? These are a few of the spots near and dear to Meghan and Matt, as inspiration for your trip planning! This is also just a tease; we have plenty more recommendations if you're interested....

San francisco

Matt and Meghan lived in the city together for 4 years, and Meghan attests to having "left her heart in San Francisco." To enjoy the very colorful architecture, people, and culture the city has to offer, we recommend renting an Airbnb in one of the following neighborhoods: Castro, Cole Valley, the Mission, Hayes Valley, or NOPA. June in San Francisco is foggy in the morning and beautifully clear by the afternoon, so bring a sweater and say hi to Karl for us!

Matt was convinced a move to California was a good idea when he realized all the hiking, climbing, and mountain biking of Tahoe was only a 3 hour drive from the Bay Area. If you're looking to be humbled by Mother Nature and enjoy some mountain recreation, head for Lake Tahoe. We're partial to the north shore...

Mendocino

Redwood forests meet the ocean in Mendocino to create a magical combination. Colorful glass beaches, lush forest hiking, and quaint towns characterize a trip to Mendocino County. We recommend the Glendeven Inn, but there are so many good options you can't go wrong. Definitely drive through Alexander Valley on your way and linger in Boonville.
